Krisa Ann Franzetta, Ph.D.
Dr. Franzetta brings her knowledge to Steel City Academies as the Education Director and Special Education Director. Prior to joining our team, she was a Special Education Teacher and Special Education Coordinator at a private academic school in the North Hills. Dr. Franzetta has worked in education for the last 14 years, specifically with our population of students for the last 12 years.
Dr. Franzetta earned her doctorate in Special Education from Duquesne University with a concentration on behavioral disorders. She completed her master’s program in Special Education at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Franzetta earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Clarion University.

Teachers
The teachers at Steel City Academies are excited to partner with families in their child’s educational journey. Our teachers have a successful track record in working with and teaching students in all grade levels for over 30 years. Our lead special education teacher comes from a private school in the North Hills where she spent eight years working with our population of children. Our veteran teachers have taught in the surrounding Pittsburgh school districts teaching in all subject areas with Master degrees in special education and social work. The SCA teaching team is looking forward to creating a supportive, safe, and inclusive learning environment for our students.
Behavior Specialists
The behavior specialists team at Steel City Academies has worked with kids for over 25 years. They are active members of their communities, including West Mifflin and Beaver County and often a familiar face for the students attending SCA. Our behavior support specialists are trained in various de-escalation interventions, with the student's safety being a priority.
